We're starting a new program to rally our community to support local causes while also helping sustain your CreativeMornings/LEX chapter. Each month, we'll partner with a relevant local cause or organization based on our theme or speaker and we'll ask for your donations and support. We're keeping a modest goal of $500 each month, but every little bit helps! The majority of your donation will go to this month's cause or organization, with a portion helping sustain CreativeMornings/LEX. Your donation is not at all required as a part of attending our event, but it's encouraged and much appreciated!
This month, our CreativeMornings/LEX For Good is supporting Friends of Cherokee State Historic Park, a cause that our May speaker Gerry Seavo James is closely involved in. The Friends of Cherokee State Historic Park is a non-profit organization formed in 2008 to support, protect, preserve, and highlight Cherokee State Historic Park. Cherokee situated on the banks of Kentucky Lake, adjacent to Kenlake State Park was open from 1949-1963 as Kentucky’s only state park for its African American population during the Jim Crow Era. The Friend’s intention is to continue growing Cherokee into a premier site for cultural, historical, and educational resources concerning African American history, culture, achievements, and contributions to the commonwealth.
We thank you in advance for your support and donations. Let's do good for our community and our chapter!
