Lily is our granddaughter, born at 24 weeks in June 2011. She spent 3 1/2 months in the NICU. Love for Lily was conceived because of the isolation our children felt while their daughter was in the NICU and the loss after her passing a short four and a half months after she was delivered. Love for Lily provides support for families through a collection of programs including Mom’s Group, Family Group, Essential’s bags with the basic necessities, Post NICU group and grants to families with babies in the NICU longer than 4 weeks. Love for Lily’s mission, to give families the support they need to ease their journey through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) stay, to thrive in unit and at home. Love for Lily had their first meeting at UC Health on Mother’s Day 2012. We had no idea what Love for Lily would become, we only knew we wanted to provide ongoing support for those families. Nine years later, they have served thousands of families and have filled a void, a need that had been unspoken. Their core programs can be found at four participating hospitals in the Denver Metro Area, providing support and programs for moms and families while their children are in the NICU, as well as Post NIUC groups.
No one should have to do this alone...
Every day before we knew the word COVID-19, families found themselves in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with their newborn baby for a myriad of reasons: born too early, fighting chronic disease, genetic mutations to name a few. As our world is navigating the uncharted waters of the COVID19 pandemic these babies, their families, and the medical teams that are working to keep them thriving need our support.
At Love for Lily we stand for these families, nurses and doctors, the social workers and physical therapists that are braving this storm to support the tiniest among us.
During this time, we’ve taken our family support services virtual, with multiple weekly Zoom Calls, Google Meets, One-on-One Coaching Calls, text support, and secure private chat groups. Parents share that this has been a huge support to the rollercoaster of emotions and decisions they must make during this time. Our most recent program is Love, Camden & Friends serving families with loss.
Additionally, we are supporting the hospital caregiving teams, hosting virtual group meetings, creating helpful resources, as well as offering One-on-One coaching for the incredible NICU teams that are showing up to keep these babies healthy and thriving.
A global pandemic won't stop us…
Our success has been possible with the support of our community.
