The rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has tested us all. In the most vulnerable communities, without help, many will perish.
In the densely populated shanty-towns of South Africa, social distancing during quarantine is almost impossible.
With 6+ people to a single room, no running water or electricity, these communities already suffer massive challenges in accessing food, sanitation and hygiene.
With the country in lockdown, 12 million children don’t know where their next meal will come from. Their lack of access to health care is also a threat to their survival.
Afrika Tikkun is best known for its Cradle to Career 360° model, which we implemented across our five centers in the townships of Diepsloot, Alexandra, Orange Farm, Braampark/Hillbrow and Mfuleni (Cape Town).
During this crisis Afrika Tikkun has partnered with other non-profits and community-based organizations to distribute food parcels, hygiene packs, fabric masks and personal protective equipment to all of the communities we serve. In addition to this commitment, we have kept our training and education programs operating virtually for the children we serve.
Please join us to keep the people in these communities healthy, nourished, and hopeful!
