Foundations Christian Montessori Academy of Sarasota is a small, not-for-profit school located in a Title 1 school district in Sarasota, Florida. Foundations serves our local families by providing high-quality childcare and individualized primary and secondary education for children ages 12 months through 8th grade in both Sarasota and Manatee counties by challenging their minds and inspiring their hearts and spirits. Not only do we provide quality education for all, but we have also continued to provide care for our first responders and essential workers throughout this pandemic, and continue to be a safe haven for children in need, including those bullied, emotionally challenged, and those neglected and abandoned now being cared for in the foster system. Our school also provides unique learning opportunities for advanced learners while at the same time, support students who struggle academically with individualized learning plans to meet their needs, preparing all of our students for life. It is our mission and vision to “lay a strong foundation to build up our next generation.” As a small, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, we rely solely on the revenue from our affordable tuition and charitable donations.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has swept through our cities, our states, our nation, and our world, it continues to have its lingering and destructive effects on our school community. Many of our families are still out of work and are struggling to put food on their tables. Families are now having to make the decision to withdraw their children from school due to loss of employment and income and others to the fears of returning to the school due to personal health concerns of their children or members of their families. As many small childcare centers and small private schools in our area have been forced to permanently close their doors, we have been blessed to safely reopen our doors, but it is not without our fair share of financial struggles. With the extensive costs of rent, PPE, and all of the enhanced health and safety measures that were required to be put in place in order for us to reopen, coupled with loss of enrollment and loss of revenue, we are asking for your support to help us continue our vision and mission to faithfully serve the children and families in our community.
…for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:35-40
