First, a huge thank you to everyone who has generously donated, supported, and/or volunteered during the unique and unprecedented times we are all living in right now!! Thank you! Over the last few months not only have we been affected by COVID, but we have also dealt with 2 wildfires in Cave Creek. We evacuated the rescue horses to a safe location both times and assisted our neighbors in the community with emergency evacuations/relocations. Our fundraising efforts have really been limited with most, if not all, of our typical in-person events being cancelled or postponed. However, our rescue functions and expenses have not decreased.
We are still taking in new rescue horses, just recently we took in a 30-year-old gelding with laminitis, Cushing’s, skin conditions, substantial weight loss, and major teeth issues. Additionally, we welcomed two mini horses, one with laminitis and other severe hoof concerns needing continuous farrier corrections and x-rays. Generally, when a new horse comes to the rescue the initial evaluation/treatment (vet, farrier, teeth, etc.) is around $500-$700. Our typical feed bill (hay, pellets, supplements) is around $700 every 3 weeks. We currently have 2 horses on Prevacox/Equioxx (approx. $60/mth per horse) and one horse on Pergolide (approx. $90/mth per horse). One mare recently needed Soft Ride boots ($200) for her laminitis. These are all necessary expenses to ensure we are providing the best treatment and care to our herd! We are also hoping to raise some funds for our sweet "Duck" (18-month-old Rock Mountain sorrel) to go to training.
Outside of any monetary donation - we are also accepting physical donations, please visit our website for the contact details of our Triple R team and for additional info. We appreciate and understand if you cannot make a monetary donation at this time but if you could even just share this campaign, every little bit helps! A shout out to our volunteers, supporters, and donors - we could not do this without you! Again, thank you so much from the Triple R family!
