Over 35 million Americans have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, many families are struggling to pay for food, housing, medicine, utilities . . . and even diapers.
The “COVID-19 VIRTUAL DIAPER DRIVE for Safe Babies and Safe Moms” provides free diapers and supplies for babies and toddlers in needy families.
IT’S A FACT
Newborns may use up to 12 diapers a day. That’s 360 diapers per month. Needless to say, unemployed mothers may not have the money for all those diapers. But unchanged dirty diapers can cause diaper rash, infection, and illness in both toddlers and babies.
PROTECTING OUR MOST VULNERABLE
Factors like reduced sleep, hormonal changes, and increased stress can weaken a mother’s immune system, making her more susceptible to getting sick.
Also, having to make trips to the store to get diapers can be expensive, time-consuming, exhausting, and can expose her to the novel coronavirus. Babies and toddlers are also more at risk for diaper rash and illness if their diapers are not changed often enough.
HOW OUR VIRTUAL DIAPER DRIVE WORKS
(1) NUHECDC, a local nonprofit organization, accepts tax deductible donations from people like you
(2) contributions are used to buy diapers and supplies
(3) diapers and supplies are donated to food pantries and other organizations for distribution to needy parents
(4) NUHECDC works with select organizations in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties to assist families across the entire tri-county area
So, PLEASE help some of our most vulnerable neighbors by providing plenty of free diapers for babies and toddlers.
