The coronavirus has changed all of our lives forever and has gone down in history as the most progressive virus without a viable treatment. As the race to protect our global population from the spread of COVID-19, we must also consider those that are in the frontlines: healthcare workers.
A few days ago, The Daily podcast released an episode concerning the shortage of supplies for healthcare workers. Starting with masks, hospital beds, ventilators and the like and many are dying before they can even make it to a hospital bed. The necessity of these have allowed us to see the harsh reality and how valuable it is for medical professionals/companies to obtain one.
As a daughter of two healthcare workers, I believe that it is our right to help those who help us. My parents and friends who work in the medical field tell me about the constant shortages of protection such as masks, PPE's (Personal Protective Equipment), and hospital beds at their jobs and it made me realize that we should be giving back, no matter how small or big, to those who protect our lives. We stay home to help them and they help us by protecting us for pandemics. But how can they without the proper protection and equipment?
Direct Relief is coordinating with public health authorities, nonprofit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and globally to provide personal protective equipment and essential medical items to health workers responding to coronavirus.
100% of your donation goes towards everything I've said above and Direct Relief also stages personal protective equipment with regional response agencies across the world, not just the United States but also including the Caribbean and South America through the Pan American Health Organization.
