Emergency Relief Fund for Bay Area Artists Who Have Lost Income due to COVID-19
The need for social distancing will heavily impact the already strained Bay Area arts community - especially those who rely on gigs, events, sales and service work to sustain their practices and pay their bills. If you love the Bay Area and the Bay Area arts community, and you have the resources to do so, please consider pitching in to our emergency relief fund.
We believe that opportunities for creative expression build individual and community health. We have created a matching grant fundraiser. That means that every dollar you donate will provide two dollars to someone in need.
We are partnering with two inspiring and trusted local organizations, as well as giving individual artist grants.
Our partner orgs:
Youth Spirit Artworks
The mission of Youth Spirit Artworks is to use art jobs and jobs training to empower and transform the lives of youth, giving young people the skills, experience, and self-confidence needed to meet their full potential. They work with unhoused and unstably housed poor youth, ages 15-26. Youth Spirit carries out its work through an empowerment-based paid artistic jobs training program. YSA is currently working on creating a community of 100 homes for unhoused youth - designed and built by the youth and other community organizations and individual volunteers. It’s going to be an amazing space full of murals, mosaics and more. The youth have designed all the community guidelines themselves and are taking real steps towards a beautiful, harmonious and empowered living environment that will hopefully be ready to move into this July! They need more funds to complete this project, especially because of Covid-19 related delays in the building process. Find more information about their Tiny House Village here:
We have up to $5k in matching funds dedicated to this project - that means that together we could give as much as $10k to YSA.
East Bay Center for the Performing Arts
We offer diverse youth and young adults opportunities to grow and excel as learners, creators of art, and contributors to their communities. We provide broad and strategic community-based and public school performing arts access programs; rigorous individual and ensemble training; an intensive six-year, interdisciplinary diploma program; advanced internships; and commissions for new works of art. Our students, partners, and audiences deepen their experience and engagement with the life-affirming and community-building impact of music, theater, dance, and media-making from a critical selection of the world's great cultures. EBCPA has created a fund and 100% of funds go straight into the hands of their students and families.
We have up to $5k in matching funds dedicated to this fund - that means that together we could give as much as $10k to EBCPA families.
