As we deal with the realities of a world fighting to overcome the pandemic, we just wanted to share with you the challenges that the Sai Temple and the Sri Venkateswara Temple are beginning to face, and how you can help.
With the temples now closed for over three weeks, and no funds coming in from devotee sponsorships of Archana’s and Pujas, the temple financial reserves are in a precarious situation. While the government and the banks have stepped in to help with various programs, the monthly expenses for mortgage payments, utility bills, and priest salaries are still a signification amount.
It is especially in times such as these we need your support in reaching out to your family, friends, and your extended network to help sustain the wonderful and beneficial services that the temples provide.
Now in existence for over 10 years, Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple and Sri Venkateswara Temple of Austin continue to strive to expand the temple programs, services and offerings to the community.
Ø By donating to the Temple, not only will you be assisting the temple, but you would also be supporting the community that depends on the Temple. From the start the Sai Temple has held many programs to provide food and education for those in need. These programs include:
Ø Sandwich Seva: 170,000 lunch meals provided to the homeless in Austin via Salvation Army Ø Backpack Program: LISD backpack program- 8000 food backpacks provided to local children in need via Leander ISD and school support programs
Ø Winter and summer food box program for families during vacations
Ø Annapurna Seva Program, India: 150,000 lunches served at Sri Satya Sai Annapurna Seva program in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Over 4000 melas are served every week at different organizations and orphanages.
Ø ACC college scholarships.
Through all of the good times, our temples have offered us tremendous solace, guidance, and peace. And now, in these times of uncertainty, we feel like it is our responsibility to do all we can to make sure that our temples continue to be the guiding light, for us, and for the generations to come.
Let us all come together and make a difference, in small way. Every single dollar that you donate for the sake of Temple is everlasting charity, and may god reward you for your generosity. Donation is not something that one person benefits from, it has a ripple effect. An entire community and generations to come will be very much appreciative of what we have established for them.
