Give extra meals & resources to families in need. COVID-19 Kids During Crisis Response Fund
Dr. Jordan Shlain, Eat REAL's founder and Board Chair, is a top voice on coronavirus response. With his guidance and your support, Eat REAL is raising funds to help our communities respond.
The KidsDuringCrisis COVID-19 Response Fund is a trusted way for people to support Dr. Jordan Shlain's Public Health non-profit, Eat REAL (United States Healthful Food Council, Inc). Schools continue to provide weekday breakfasts and lunches to students who need food. Working with school district leaders, Eat REAL is helping students and their families have access to dinner and weekend meals. The organization is creating tools that ensure families across America have more support, as they try to stay healthy through this crisis.
The KidsDuringCrisis COVID-19 Response Fund supports:
Critical School Heroes Emergency Grants for school districts, so as school heroes, they can continue to provide food and resources to kids and families in need. Twenty-two million children depend on school meals for nourishment. Now that many schools are closed or are closing, school leaders continue to ensure schools can be access points that connect families with food and resources. Your donations make an emergency fund available to School District Food programs and partners serving high need communities through meal pick-up.
The first grant is for 24,000 weekend meals for Bay Area families to pick-up at school sites.
Tools & Resources for Families so they can support kids to be #HealthyAtHome. People are searching for guidance on how to stay healthy. Eat REAL's community of distinguished doctors, nutritionists, registered dieticians, chefs, parents, and K-12 leaders are stepping up to the challenge. With your support, the nonprofit can create and deploy trustworthy and vetted information on being #HealthyAtHome for KidsDuringCrisis.
Expanded impact so we can build on our support model to respond to this quickly evolving crisis and keep investing in Public Health initiatives and our communities.
Like many nonprofits, we don't know what the future holds, so we need your support to keep doing this impactful work.
Your donation supports our organization to do emergency response efforts (emergency grants for more food for more people), provide resources for food workers (eg safety guides + equipment where possible) and families (vetted info and guides), as well as our work to increase access to real food.
