Fall classes begin the week of August 18 but thousands of South LA youth are still unable to effectively distance learn due to lack of access to needed technology. Join the SoLa I CAN Foundation in helping to bridge this digital gap and enable South LA youth to successfully distance learn.
For South LA, COVID-19 has impacted more than just health. Our community's youth are struggling, with many lacking reliable access to their teachers, curriculum and support. At the end of the 2020 academic year, LA schools estimated some 30,000 students fell through the cracks, having lost all access to learning. If kids don't have the resources, this number will grow.
We can change this together. For $200 you can provide a child with a Chromebook and, more importantly, a way to stay on track with their education. This past Spring, the SoLA I CAN Foundation helped supply 150 laptops to area youth. But our waitlist grew to over 350 families!
Our goal is to provide Chromebook laptops to at least 400 underserved students.
As part of this initiative, SoLa I CAN is launching a virtual technology and entrepreneurship center has been hosting weekly technology learning experiences and will continue to expand these programs in the Fall. Join us in supporting our students during this crisis and need.
