Be A Blessing!
Please donate and help raise the funds needed to allow the Courageous House of Stuart Florida to continue to have a positive influence on the lives of men who through the holy spirit are looking for a hand-up and not a hand-out. These men, men who are committed to a life built on a foundation of faith and a personal relationship with our lord and savior, Jesus Christ, need a permanet home. A place they can call home! A place where they can continue, through trancedence, provide a safe healthy environment to continue the healing process of men damaged by substance abuse such as alcohol, drug addiction and other life controlling problems.
As part of a Men's Group, I have been blessed beyond measure to have been introduced to the great men of the Stuart Florida Courageous House . In support of becoming better men of faith, together, we hold each other accountable through bible study and by giving back to the church through the completion of various chores and church campus projects. The great men of the Courageous House have and continue to contribute to the church, while also contributing to various initiatives across the local community. Please help these great men by donating whatever you can to this worthwhile cause. Funds raised will go towards securing the assets that the courageous House desperately needs to continue to have a positive impact on the men who desperately need these great services.
About the Courageous House
Joshua’s Promise Ministries opened Courageous House in 2012. The mission of Courageous House is to provide a safe healthy environment to continue the healing process of men damaged by substance abuse such as alcohol, drug addiction and other life controlling problems. The Courageous House addresses the consequences of addiction such as poor health, moral and financial bankruptcy, and severed relationships by rebuilding a man from the inside out. This “regeneration” process uses a strong biblical foundation to teach communication and relational skills, healthy individual and family values, and the foundation of the Christian life, thereby strengthening moral and social values.
As a faith-based nonprofit organization, Courageous House’s guiding philosophy is “Recovery and Restoration through Jesus”. It offers a 6 month long, residential, faith-based transitional program for men. The program is designed as an organized opportunity to help a man struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction to get the help he needs through provision of transitional housing and comprehensive educational and support services. The Courageous House provides a bridge back to the community environment through biblical instruction, and solid work ethic. It provides an opportunity for men trapped in chemical addiction to become new creatures in Christ Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit and the application of the Gospel to all areas of their lives. It enables a man to recover from his addiction through a safe and secure environment, classes, support groups and biblical counseling. The overall program includes individual counseling, classroom teaching, curriculum homework, and strong peer interaction. Courageous House allows a man to work during the day and attend classes every evening. Each man must be back on property by 6pm, have dinner, and after dinner he’ll have classes, counseling and bible study. The program focuses all on drug and alcohol information, signs & symptoms to look for when you’re on a “build up to use”, triggers, relapse prevention techniques, etc. Areas of training include: Inner Healing, Alcoholism and Addiction, Addiction Recovery Process, Financial Accountability, Relational Accountability, Time Management and Work Ethic as well as Christ centered Leadership. The program is also “tailored” to the individual. The client & his counselor establish a treatment plan that deals specifically with issues that are important to him such as; anger management, self-esteem, communication, relationships, and unforgiveness.
The Courageous House seeks to help men both recover from the addiction that destroyed their lives and rebuild that which was broken along the way. One such story of success is Jonas Roberts. “I am forty-three years old and have battled addiction my whole life. I came to meet Lester as my counselor in jail back in 2014. Wow! That was five years ago! From the jail I went to Dunklin. When I graduated the program, God brought me to Courageous House where I stayed for a year-long commitment. I think back to the challenges and tough situations along the way and can see now how God was preparing me for all the promises he gave me in my journal. I now have a beautiful loving family, wife and best friend of my dreams, three beautiful children, and a successful business that God uses as a ministry to the men we employ. These men are from, you guessed it, Courageous House! It truly amazes me how full circle things have come! I tell people all the time that I couldn’t possibly have imagined how much God had in store!!!”
The Courageous House has been blessed to witness the growth in the lives of the men who come through the program, and the growth in the ministry itself. Expanding from the original house of three bedrooms into a much larger space with eight bedrooms, the current property offers room to grow as more and more men come to find hope and healing. Allowing the Courageous House to move towards a vision of becoming a more inclusive, family development program. All too often, men with addiction seek out treatment to deal with their problem, but they leave behind wives and children in the process. Then, when the person leaves treatment, he returns to a family that is still very wounded by his actions. This needs to change. Recovery is not just about the individual in addiction, but his family as well. Sadly, most treatment options do not offer a residence for the family to come together and live in a structured, supportive environment where they can learn how to live a new life of sobriety. Courageous House’s goal is to provide this type of place! The Courageous House’s current property is a lease, and the current owner is very motivated to sell the property. Being that the men in the Courageous House program are just coming out of difficult lifestyles, they are charged a minimal program fee subsidized by generous donations. The Courageous House could not exist without the compassion of its donors. In support of continuous operations and the purchase of the current property, the Courageous House needs to raise $200,000. We graciously ask that you join with us in the pursuit of the vision and help us secure the future of the ministry.
