Costumes for Cancer: 80's Prom

Fall is in the air, which means the 7th Annual Costumes for Cancer celebration is just around the corner! This year's theme is a fun one - 80's prom! So dust off those cumberbuns and shoulder pads and let's get this party rockin 80's style! Last year we had over 125 people attend, so this year we hope everyone brings another friend so we can continue to grow this great event!

Once again we will gather in our best costumes to party, celebrate the life of my father, and raise money and awareness for a worthy cause. As many of you know, my father, Vito Sr., passed away in December 2012 of stomach cancer. In 2016, we established the Vito Chiaravalloti, Sr. Memorial Scholarship at CBA, providing financial assistance to students whose lives have been in some way impacted by cancer. Although no longer physically with us, my father's spirit remains alive and his legacy lives on! Originally, we set our goal to raise $25,000 which would endow a scholarship at CBA. We reached our goal in 2018 thanks to you!! The endowed scholarship is currently assisting students at CBA and helping them pay for a great education. Now we want to keep it going so we can help even more kids who have been affected by this terrible disease.

Our first Vito J. Chiaravalloti, Sr. Scholarship recipient, Yannis Gouzassis is currently a junior at CBA and he is thriving here. In his first two years, Yannis took full advantage of the CBA experience participating in crew, wrestling, and volleyball, as well as other clubs and activities. This fall, Yannis is beginning his junior year and will now be adding jiu-jitsu to his resume. We hope to help another young man earn a scholarship next year in addition to Yannis, but to do that we need your help!

Be sure to mark your calendars and get to the Downtown on Saturday, October 26th. This is 80's prom, so come dressed to impress in your best outfits. There will be prizes for the best costumes, along with some gift baskets and silent auction items. Then the plan is to stay after to dance it up and have a great night! This year, all guests will be receiving a free drink ticket!

If you can't make it, you can still join in on the fun! Donate online, dress up for Halloween, and share a photo of yourself on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #Costumes4Cancer. If you would like to write a check, please make it out to Christian Brothers Academy and in the memo write Vito Chiaravalloti, Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Bring checks to the event or mail them to: Christian Brothers Academy Att: Vito Chiaravalloti II 850 Newman Springs Rd Lincroft, NJ 07738 We cannot wait to see you there! #Vito4Life #Costumes4Cancer Help spread the word!
