I am excited to go another Corner of Love mission trip in February 2019. Since 2000, Corner of Love has been helping impoverished families in Nicaragua by bringing healthcare and clean water to remote areas where many drink contaminated water and lack basic needs like medical and dental care, clothing and shoes.
Following recent political upheaval in Nicaragua, Corner of Love is no longer allowed to serve in that country. But that has not stopped this amazing mission from helping those in need. More than 23,000 Nicaraguan refugees have poured into Costa Rica escaping the violent repression. Most who cross the border arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs and their personal story of how they avoided being shot by paramilitaries or police. 400+ unarmed citizens have been killed in Nicaragua due to corruption and violence.
In response to this migration crisis Corner of Love has established a new headquarters close to the Costa Rica-Nicaragua border.
I will be going to Costa Rica to help provide relief to refugees who are arriving tired, hungry, and emotionally raw, as they experience the devastating sadness of leaving behind their homeland and loved ones.
I will help any way I can including organizing supplies and setting up the relief center to serve migrant families and have the opportunity to meet and pray with Nicaraguans on their refugee journey. In addition, our team will provide clothing, medicine, towels, blankets, toiletries, and bus fare to their immigration proceedings in Costa’s capital city of San José.
