My name is Corinne and this summer I am participating in an exciting program called Girls Going Global. Girls Going Global (GGG) is a 501 (c) 3 organization that has a mission to expose girls in underserved areas to the cultures of the world. GGG believes that by creating global leadership and civic engagement experiences girls will be better prepared to create change in their communities and the world.
Italy is the destination and community service is the motivation. During my time in Italy, I will meet and engage with local teens and girls to discuss our commonalities and work on community service projects that make a positive impact in the Italian girls' everyday lives. Behind the exceptional architecture, historic artwork, and deep ancient history known through our history lessons and popular among the country's visitors, there are teenagers and tweens who live a very different life than the one most of us see on television. Today's society demands a better global understanding and partnership with others to bridge the cultural and language gaps between us and forge lifelong relationships and sustainable projects that enrich the lives of both the Americans and Italians.
I ask that you support my efforts to travel abroad and make a difference. This is not your typical sightseeing adventure. It is a chance to write a very special chapter in history or shall I say “herstory.” Please feel free to donate and say a special prayer as I, along with 13 other GGG special young ladies embark upon this opportunity to show the best of America. Your support and encouragement is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Corinne
