We call ourselves the Cool Cats, because we are a group of friends that volunteer on Tuesday Nights working with the Cats at the Alliston Humane Society. We have lots of fun together and enjoy cuddling with the furry felines.
There are 3 dogs on our team. All have been rescued from situations that were not suitable for them.
Tika a miniature Husky was rescued from a Northern Shelter. She quickly caught our attention when she arrived last August at the Alliston Humane Society. The Shipston's welcomed her into their home as a support dog for Matthew, a young adult with an anxiety disorder and Autism. She has been a blessing to him and to everyone in the family. Koda a Shepard mix was rescued years 10 years ago in Thunder Bay. She was a great comfort to the family during a very difficult time in their lives, by giving unconditional love. She has taken on a motherly role with young Tika and it has brought back her youthful spirit. Charlie is Wilus' dog, a cousin to Koda and Tika. He is a huge Boxer/Ridgeback that was not given enough attention. He became destructive and bored. He ended up eating a BBQ cover leaving him very ill requiring surgery. When he went to his forever home with the Losereits he was given love, attention and taught how to behave. He is now a loyal, lovable giant that brings joy daily. All three of these dogs have changed our lives for the better. Each one has its own dogality. We can not imagine our lives without them.
Our Team members: Wilus, Olivia, Rachel, Corbin, Daniel, Matthew, Monique, Cindy and Gloria.
