I need help raising funds for the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation (RWCF) COVID-19 Crisis Relief Fund and building a communal Quarantine Cookbook.
Instead of compiling recipes and selling hard copies, I'm asking folks to add a recipe or consider donating to "read" the cookbook.
One of the bright spots for me the last few weeks has been time spent in the kitchen. From pantry experiments to family favorites, it's been a great way to relax and take advantage of the extra hours at home.
I love a great meal, but my favorite aspect of food is the sense of community. Holiday meals shared with family, morning trips to the farmers' market, exotic dishes abroad - food brings us together.
With the world on pause, I hope to recreate a bit of that community online through a convenient location for folks to add recipes and share their passion for food. At the very least, you're giving me a much needed break from the Food Network.
I want people to share a favorite dish - a family classic, a successful quarantine experiment, or something special to your culture or region. Please try to keep them (relatively) simple, fun, and focused on pantry ingredients.
I selected the RWCF because of their nationwide footprint and model to allocate 100% of funds raised to individual workers (50%), non-profits (25%), and through zero-interest loans to restaurants (25%).
More information can be found on their website.
If anyone has suggestions on the form and sheet, please reach out. I wanted to keep it simple, but hope to learn a bit about the folks and food in my universe. Thanks for reading and stay safe out there!
