Conor is turning 1!!
As we approach Conor's 1st birthday, we are reminded of his premature arrival and subsequent stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Brigham & Women's Hospital. With all the craziness that comes with becoming new parents, to a premie...in a pandemic...the nursing and care staff at the BWH NICU didn't miss a beat ensuring that all of our possible needs were met. Nurses became our second family when visitors weren't allowed, celebrated daily milestones, even made sure that we had time to eat or shower that day. The medical team worked in tandum with our nurses to ensure that every approach was considered for Conor's optimal growth and development. The social workers and family supports checked in daily with us always offering us snacks, coffee - and whatever else we may of needed throughout the admission.
We are forever grateful, but we also are very aware that we were just one of many families in need of the NICU's care, and that this incredible unit provides exceptional care for babies of diverse medical and familial needs every day. Covid19 continues to impact our families, communities and care facilites. This year in lieu of a 1st birthday party we decided to celebrate Conor by fundraising for the "Friends of the NICU Fund." This fund helps provide these daily resources directly for families while in the BWH NICU. Please join us in gifting a "birthday gift" to the NICU for Conor!
