All of us here at Habitat for Humanity of Taos are very excited to announce our upcoming Competition Build!
For this event we'll be building TWO new family homes, side by side!
We're very excited to have this opportunity to build two new family homes at once, one for the Barsano Family and one for the Parison Family.
Michelle Barsano is a local Taoseno. She’s a teaching assistant at Taos Charter School assisting children with special needs, is currently going to school, and has been raising her two sons, Cante and Wanbli, all as a single mother. In her application Michelle wrote about Taos as a community that she has loved living in, “I see myself growing in this community in a personal and professional way”. We feel that Michelle adds value to Taos through her work, her strength, and her stories. We’re grateful to be able to give her this opportunity to live and raise her family here in a stable home.
Mikhial and Brionica Parison relocated here a year ago. They have two little ones, Freya and Jebediah, and one more baby on the way! Mikhial is a wood worker and we're glad to have him to help on the build.
Our exciting new event, the Competition Build, is starting this week! Because of increase in demand for Habitat homes, we come up with this event as a way to quickly build two new homes. The Competition Build is an opportunity for HFHT to gain support from new and previous sponsors, through interesting them in this fun and competitive face off of who can raise funds to complete a home first, and from volunteers, who will learn new homebuilding skills in a high energy environment.
Building two houses means twice the cost and twice the labor! Show your support by donating to our gofundme, where every penny donated will go directly into one of these family's forever homes.
