When Brian was age three, he and his unnamed two-year-old brother were abandoned by their mother after their father died. Until found, they lived in filth in an abandoned house, eating scraps of food. When we found Brian and his brother, we placed him with a Christian family in their community to raise him. This family is able to raise them because of sponsors who fund the necessary grain, meat, and hygiene supplies. The boys are also able to attend a good school because of financial provision through our program. Brian and his brother, now named Barnabas, flourish physically, mentally, and spiritually as children in a family. Thanks to our donors, we are providing for these children in dire circumstances.
Imagine it—a child living in a context of poverty, disease, and abandonment without parents or means to escape this state. Yet through the help of people like you, such a child can climb out of the hole of abject poverty. Instead of spending childhood begging or searching for scraps of food and water that won’t make him or her sick, that child can instead go to school and thrive in a family context. Studies show that one of the best uses of giving dollars is child sponsorship.
East-West’s Adopt-a-Legacy program connects people like you with a child in the over-populated rural town of Kitale, Kenya, an area in which we are also partnering with nationals to evangelize and plant churches. Kitale is a town where most live in poverty in concrete houses without electricity or plumbing, so can't afford good schooling, proper food, or other provisions basic for us. Until people like you help.
The 45 children now in our program include orphans, those abandoned, and those with one surviving parent who is terminally ill and can’t work. The kids also include some children of pastors living in poverty. In some cases, pastors have adopted orphaned children, though the pastors themselves have so little.
A board of local Kenyan believers partners with us to oversee the program to vet children in greatest need and administer the program justly. Our goal is to assist as many children as possible by placing them into loving Christian families, rather than an orphanage. We provide education, food, hygiene supplies, and spiritual mentors who will make sure they receive love. Your generosity can create a new legacy for one or more such at-risk children. Donations make a huge difference in the lives of these children, in the families raising them, and in the futures of their communities.
Donations of any amount are appreciated. Here are some Ideas:
$22 will provide food for a month, or $264 for a year.
$48 will provide school for one child for a month.
$35 will provide a school uniform and a pair of shoes for the school year for one child.
$110 will fully sponsor one child for a month that includes school, food, meat, and hygiene supplies. (This relieves some needs and costs of the family which is raising the child.)
$350 will provide ten uniforms and shoes for kids.
$576 will provide school for one child for a year. (Better than the public education, which is also not free in Kenya.)
$1,320 will provide a child a loving Christian home environment, education, hygiene supplies, food, and meat for twelve months.
In this time of thanksgiving and gift-giving, please extend your reach of compassion to our at-risk children and those we might be able to add due to your donation. Your gift will make an incredible difference in their lives.
