As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community agency serving Chicago's north side communities for over 65 years, Northside Community Resources (NCR) has been providing crucial social services to help vulnerable individuals and families get back on their feet after they have suffered a medical emergency, lost their jobs, lost their homes in a fire, or when seniors require intensive case management and small home repairs after they've fallen or gotten hurt in their homes.
Over time, the various gov't grants which fund our programming and services, have been getting smaller and smaller, shrinking NCR's capacity to help people affected by these kinds of emergencies. That is why we need your help in creat a community emergency fund. NCR's Emergency Fund can quickly help people in the community, when NCR is unable to fully assist through its gov't based programs or when there is no other place to refer people for help.
NCR’s Community Emergency Fund will allow us to help low-income, underserved members of the community, and those who have no other place to turn to with resources to help get them back on their feet. The Community Emergency Fund provides one-time financial assistance to subsidize temporary housing, buy food and medicines. On several occasions in the past, NCR has conducted emergency fundraising to help individuals and families victimized by building fires. In those prior instances, NCR raised over $40k in funding to help them find and secure temporary or alternative rental housing, pay for food, medicines, clothing and/or personal grooming items, so they can return to work or school.
On March 16th, NCR began a collaboration with the Rogers Park Community Response Team and started fundraising for a COVID-19 fund through this GoFundMe page, to help area residents impacted by the global pandemic. The fund will help individuals and families, by providing cash assistance for food, medicine, housing and other critical needs. Please donate and help community members facing dire economic hardship.
On behalf of all the people that Northside Community Resources (NCR) serves, please help us serve the most vulnerable members of the community, through NCR's Community Emergency Fund. Thank you for your contribution and generosity!
