Join the community composting movement! Did you know that 23% of waste entering our landfill is paper? By composting this waste paper with food waste from local produce processing operations we will be able to keep these materials out the landfill and create a soil amendment that can be used increase the health of our local soils. We are building larger vermicomposting (worm composting) bins that will allow us to scale up our community composting project. Last year we processed over 30,000 pounds of local produce processing waste and an equal amount of waste paper, diverting at least 60,000 pounds of waste away from the landfill. By scaling up our composting project to intake more waste, we will be able to share our resulting vermicompost with more farmers and gardeners.
