10 Van Go Youth + 10 Food Collection Barrels = One Super Cool Spring Project! Just Food and Van Go are teaming up to create 10 uniquely painted food collection barrels. The barrels will be placed throughout Douglas County to support food drive efforts. As not-for-profit organizations, we are turning to the community to commission this project! Our goal is to raise $5,000 which will employ 10 Van Go youth to paint the barrels during this Spring semester. A quintessential Lawrence project--food, art, and community.
Each donor will receive a super special secret sticker with a design taken from the mural Van Go created for Just Food’s mobile pantry, the Cruising Cupboard in 2020. Donors of $500+ will have an opportunity to place their 4x4" logo on a barrel.
Both organizations serve an important role in Douglas County. While employed at Van Go, 14-24 year old high needs youth receive job-training, social work supports, healthy living lessons all while creating public works of art. Just Food aims to alleviate hunger in Douglas County, by providing access to healthy food options to anyone experiencing long or short term hunger.
This partnership sure feels like a win-win to us!
