The CBW Student Riders are a group of kids who love to ride and spend time with friends and mentors at Community Bike Works. Find out more about each member here:
Eric, 15, is an apprentice at our Madison Street bike shop who spends most days helping other kids in the shop and playing games, whether he's working or not. He loves to ride and participates in all kinds of cycling activities, including long road rides with the Lehigh Wheelmen. Eric is a junior at William Allen High School.
Joncarlo, 14, is a freshman at Dieruff High School. JC is the first apprentice to be hired at our East Allentown bike shop, and has been an awesome addition to our staff. JC loves mountain biking and working on the trail in Keck Park, and rides his bike everywhere.
Erin, 13, is an eighth grader at Arts Academy Charter Middle School. She has been a regular Drop-In participant and youth volunteer in East Allentown for over a year. Erin loves riding with the Lehigh Wheelmen and on our Keck Park mountain bike trail, and was one of the first East Allentown students to participate in our Youth Leadership team.
Max, 17, is a Drop-In regular and competitive card player. A senior at Willam Allen High School, Max enjoys going on bike rides and playing kickball at Community Bike Works. Max helps younger students fix their bikes, and works with staff on making trips to the scrap yard.
Zoe, 14, was the first girl to participate in our road riding program with the Lehigh Wheelmen. When asked to speak publicly about the experience, Zoe told us "I learned you don't have to be a certain gender to accomplish what you want to. I also learned about not giving up. I thought I wouldn't be able to ride 20 miles at a time. But there was no turning back the first time we went out on a ride. When you start something, you have to finish it." Zoe is a freshman at Building 21.
Asher, 12, is one of our most competitive Madison Street riders. He can often be found playing kickball, riding with the Lehigh Wheelmen, or playing games with other kids in Drop-In. Asher is a member of our Youth Leadership team and a seventh grader.
Sharif, 12, is a seventh grader at Innovative Arts Academy Charter School and earned his first bike from CBW in 2015. Since then, Sharif has been a regular in our Drop-In, Earn a Book, and cycling programs. Sharif enjoys riding bikes and making people laugh.
Alexis, 12, is an experienced CBW youth volunteer and public representative. She was chosen to speak at the Da Vinci Science Center on behalf of their Inventor's Club program at our East Allentown bike shop, as well as our own gala in March 2018. Alexis is a seventh grader at Arts Academy Charter Middle School.
Jade, 12, earned her first bike this past summer at our Madison Street bike shop. During that summer, Jade and her siblings became regulars in Drop-In, where they enjoyed arts and crafts and hanging out with the other Bike Works kids. Now that she has a bike of her own, Jade is excited to ride more regularly with CBW. Jade is a seventh grader at Raub Middle School.
