Locating affirmative services when you're young, depressed and feeling isolated, can be daunting. Which is why at COLORS we strive to stay connected to the community. Your contribution will ensure that LGBTQ-identified youth can find us when they need us.
Your program support matters because the statistics are still staggering. According to the CDC suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth aged 15-24 with the likelihood of suicide estimated to be 2-7 times greater among LGBTQ-identified youth. And according the LAPD, there has been a steady rise in the rate of hate crimes right here in LA County.
So why give to COLORS? Some people give because they resonate deeply with the experience of depression and isolation related to lack of acceptance around their sexual orientation, their gender expression or their sense of self. Others give in the name of family or friends whom they have witnessed struggle as they have found and hopefully learned to celebrate themselves. And still others give in the hope of preparing future leaders by helping them become empowered and living into their full LGBTQ potential. Whatever it is that inspires you, your support is critical in helping to ensure that COLORS continues to be out in the community so that LGBTQ youth can find us when they need us.
The money raised in this campaign will allow to buy necessary outreach materials as well as continue attending conferences & youth focused events, for the next 5 years.
