This past year, my family lost a beautiful soul to cancer. He was a ray of light, positivity and love. He touched every person he knew. I am running this year to represent his strength, his fight, and do this for him. I want to raise money for continued research on cancer, specifically colon cancer, and money for support for patients of cancer.
I love running- but love running for a cause even more! Not only will I be training like crazy for my run, but more importantly, I’m going to leverage all that training and hard work to help raise money for the Colon Cancer Foundation and the fight against colorectal cancer. Funds raised will go to life saving public awareness, prevention, screening and research programs aimed all focused on reducing the number of loved ones we lose to this preventable, treatable and beatable disease.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer of women and men in the US. Over 150,000 Americans will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year and sadly more than 1/3 will lose their battle with this often silent killer. There is hope however, over 60% of cases could be prevented with screening. And, more than 30% of cases could be eliminated by incorporating a healthy diet and exercise!
I'm reaching out to everyone I know to help me raise $1,300 for this cause. Any amount you can give is so appreciated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Here we go!
