Franklin-Wright Settlements, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that’s been in existence since 1881 in Detroit Michigan, and has been the cornerstone of strength in supporting individuals and families, throughout the Metro Detroit area.  The foundation designed a year-round program called “Plan Your Future & Live Your Dream” that focuses on five pillars; life skills, homework assistance, college and career readiness, and ACT/SAT prep. The goal of this program is to enhance the lives of our Youth and prepare them for the next chapter after high school by exposing them to colleges all over the United States.

Every year 50 students ages 12-19, from the Detroit Metro Area take an 8-10-day journey across the United States on a college tour. They get an opportunity to digest what college looks and feels like by walking through academic, residential, and administrative building on campus, while interacting with faculty, professors, students, and administrators. Our goal for the college tour is to make sure every young man and woman get a front row seat in the educational experience to motive and encourage them to further their education after high school.  We ensure our youth understand the different programs offered, enrollment process, scholarships, tuition, and grants so they can decide which college fits their needs. This journey empowers the mind and spirit of our youth because they now know it is possible to plan for the future and live their dream. Because 75% of our youth are classified as first generation to attend college in their family. We strive to bridge the gap for their success.

This program has proven success since its inspection. Over 1000 students from 101 different schools in Detroit Michigan have experienced the journey and 100% of our youth are in college, completed college, or are working. Our journey has taken us to 18 different states. This Summer (July 12-21 2019) we will be touring East Coast Colleges.
