The goal of the College OPTIONS Carr Fire Assistance Project is to identity and provide intensive, guided assistance to the hundreds of students and families who were impacted by the devastating Carr Fire. Hundreds of homes were destroyed by the fire, and with the destruction, these students and their families lost access to critical college enrollment documents and information. In addition, many students and families continue to suffer from the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, well after the fire was extinguished. The fire complications have impacted students’ decisions to apply for college, apply for financial aid, and have impacted their concentration on the numerous college admissions requirements. College and financial aid applications can be overwhelming in the best of circumstances. Now, our community is dealing with a major disaster that has impacted the lives of thousands of families in our target region. The NEED for assistance is huge. College OPTIONS will seek to offer direct, intensive and thoughtful services to all who have suffered, and help families regain focus on achieving their goals of a college education for themselves, or for their son or daughter.
