On the 14th of April, I celebrated my 40th birthday by going 40 kilometres to raise money for Every Mother Counts, the essential charity dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother everywhere.
In the coming months, I'll run (at least) four more races to continue fundraising to help make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother everywhere.
I'm asking for your support, in any amount you can afford. Literally every dollar makes a difference.
My motherhood journey has included two transformative pregnancy and birth experiences, attended by skilled, dedicated midwives. Complications after my eldest’s birth, however, brought me to an amazing obstetrician, breast surgeon and gynaecological specialist, all of whom helped me recover fully over the course of eight long months.
If I hadn’t had that care, I wouldn’t have had my second child.
Going this distance, raising this money, supporting mothers and maternal care providers all around the world—this is what I can do to honour the incredible experience of motherhood and the team of women who helped me along my journey.
That’s 40 donations of $40, although any amount is greatly appreciated!

Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organisation dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother everywhere.
Did you know that 303,000 women die every year from complications during pregnancy and childbirth?
That’s one woman every two minutes.
Up to 98% of these tragic deaths are preventable, and that’s where organisations like Every Mother Counts come in. They work to remove the barriers to maternal health around the world, including within the United States, which ranks 46th worldwide for maternal health.
