I am honored to be running the Philadelphia Rock'n'Roll Half Mararthon on September 15th in honor of Harlem Lacrosse-Philadelphia. I have been fortunate enough to be able to coach and support Harlem Lacrosse for the past 3 years and it has been life-changing to myself, my family, and the student-athletes I coach. Read below and check out the video to learn more about the impact Harlem Lacrosse is making in cities across the U.S.
Harlem Lacrosse is a 501(c)(3) school-based youth services organization whose mission is to provide opportunities, relationships, and experiences that activate the skills and traits to put youth on a path to success as students, athletes, and citizens. Harlem Lacrosse aims to close the opportunity and achievement gaps for underserved students by placing a full-time program director at schools in high need communities for the full school day to serve as an advocate, mentor, tutor, and coach. Harlem Lacrosse programs include study halls and tutoring, lacrosse instruction and competition, enrichment experiences, college trips, career exploration, and secondary school advising and placement.
Harlem Lacrosse-Philadelphia was launched in 2017 in Philadelphia with support from the Live Like Blain Foundation. In Philadelphia, Harlem Lacrosse now operates three programs at two schools in the Philadelphia School District in North Philadelphia.
