We at Herbert Spencer School are gearing up for our first Walk for Water! Our students, staff and community members believe that access to clean water is a universal right and, learning that millions of peoples' water rights are not being met, we are ready to do what we can to help.
On May 10th, classes will participate in a relay walk to spread awareness about clean water access in Canada and around the world. Many school-aged children and their families have to walk an average of 6km/day carrying approximately 20kg of water in order to meet their needs. By participating in this walk, our students will gain an understanding of what many children their age face on a daily basis as well as an understanding of how important it is to protect our clean water sources.
We have set a fundraising goal of $100 for our school, keeping in mind that for every $25 raised one life is changed. All money raised will go directly to WE Charity Canada. Please donate what you can.
We look forward to seeing you at Herbert Spencer's first annual Walk for Water.
Go Spencer go!
