Each of us can pass on one cup of coffee a day and instead provide a child with a warm nutritious meal!
A major challenge for the development of children and youth in Guatemala is nutrition. In Guatemala, almost 50% of all children under the age of 5 suffer from growth stunting, as a result of poor nutrition during pregnancy and their early days of life.
Furthermore, as a result of Covid-related circumstances, the number of cases of acute malnutrition has tripled since March 2020.
In response to this pressing need, in 2021 Potter’s House will launch its Nutrition Program in the Western Highlands by serving 25 children through:
- Providing nutrient dense meals three times a week.
- Evaluating and monitoring children’s weight and height to determine appropriate progress according to WHO standards.
- Following up and providing targeted intervention in special cases.
Lets provide the 25 children with lunches three times a week or an average of 15 days per month for 10 months.
