Mountain Lions Club has been serving the Cobb community for 55 years by taking care of Cobb Community Center, providing disaster relief, food resources, scholarships, and carrying out the Lions global initiatives in our local community.
Thanks to a generous donation of a generator from South Lake Fire Protection District we have an opportunity to serve our community even when the power is out. Our Club does not have the financial resources to pay for the installation costs. All our fundraising efforts this year covered the bills to keep the doors open with no reserves. The generator is propane fueled and will be connected to our tank so that, once installed, the generator will automatically start up leaving the occupants of the building in the dark for only a few seconds to a minute. After we raise $2,500, Jonas Heating & Air will complete the installation taking care of county permitting and inspections to meet safety codes.
If we have enough community volunteers we can provide a warming center, charging stations and entertainment in a power outage whether it’s caused by a PSPS or other disaster. We can continue to distribute food, hold community meetings & events, and memorial services without interruption in the event of a power outage and be a place of refuge from the cold in an emergency.
