For the 2nd Annual COA Open surf contest, we are asking contestants to take their environmental stewardship to the next level. As surfers, the ocean can often feel more like home than anywhere else on the planet. Clean water, charismatic marine life, tranquil sunrises, sandy beaches and of course, waves, all contribute to the beauty and wonder that surround surfing. Without environmental activism, the natural world and much of the beauty involved in surfing could be ruined. Pipelines, oil rigs, rising sea levels, warming temperatures, degrading water quality, and plastic pollution all threaten our ocean. As a surfer, you have the ability to stand up for the ocean and defend it from these perilous threats. This year, leading up to the COA Open, ask your friends and family to donate to your Crowdrise team to help Clean Ocean Action continue its vital work to protect our ocean and beaches.
The contestant who raises the most money will be honored at the award ceremony as the Ocean Defender of the year and will be rewarded with a bag of special prizes.
If every contestant is able to raise $100, that's $9,600 for ocean conservation programs!
