THIS IS A SHOUT OUT TO THE CALIFORNIA CENTRAL COAST TO HELP PREVENT GUN VIOLENCE:
The Coalition Against Gun Violence is holding its annual California Central Coast gun buyback coordinated with the Santa Barbara Police Department at the Earl Warren Showgrounds on Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This annual event is funded primarily by private donations.
*A $80 gift card is given for each handgun or long gun.
*A 150 gift card is given for each assault weapon.
This year we need YOU, the public to make the 2019 gun buyback a success. Please consider how important any amount could be. Ten people giving only $8-15 will remove one gun from our community, making it safer by potentially saving a life.
CONSIDER: Gun violence is a public health epidemic. Families are aware that a gun in the home makes it 22 times more likely the gun will be used against that family in a homicide, suicide or accidental shooting. 60% of gun deaths are suicides. Removing a gun eliminates risk for the elderly with dementia.
Every day 9 children are killed by guns because there are 1.7 million homes in the US where loaded firearms are not locked away safely. In the majority of school shootings, the person uses firearms that are available in the home. There are 20,000 illegal guns in California. An anonymous gun buyback is an opportunity for prohibited persons to get rid of illegal guns.
Gun buybacks can potentially save lives. Every gun removed from a home or off the street may be a life saved. Gun buybacks are popular and help to educate the community. A gun buyback enables law enforcement to work with a nonproft and the community. Any donation is valuable and appreciated.
Thank you.
