For the past 14 years, several of the fraternities and sororities at Oklahoma State University have had the pleasure of putting on a fantastic show for philanthropy called Spring Sing! Spring Sing involves the greek houses pairing and creating a short 6-minute stage choir show all being combined into a massive event. The purpose of this massive event is to raise money for Coaches vs Cancer and help raise awareness of cancer while assisting patients in treatment. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, Spring Sing had to be canceled this year resulting in no ticket sales or other local fundraisers to raise money for the cause. Oklahoma State University Spring Sing as an event is the second-largest donation to this chapter of Coaches vs Cancer every year.
Just because COVID-19 stops Spring Sing and events across the world does not mean that cancer stops. This virus is making it more and more difficult to raise money for cancer patients. In order to combat this, we are starting this fundraiser to help raise money in place of what would have been Spring Sing 2020. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and sharing this as much as possible will go a long way. Thank you for all of your support! Go Pokes!
About the Philanthropy:
For nearly a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. By taking what we’ve learned through research and turning it into what we do, we have contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. That means that we helped avoid about 650,000 cancer deaths and created the potential for more birthday celebrations. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year. Because cancer has touched so many of our nation’s basketball coaches and fans, Coaches vs. Cancer offers them a unique opportunity to fight the disease. Through integrated fundraising activities and public awareness campaigns, participating coaches and fans are truly making a difference in the fight against cancer and are raising awareness in their communities about the importance of cancer prevention, early detection and making healthy lifestyle choices. In essence ... we’re creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays! Your OSU Coaches vs. Cancer program ranks in the top 10 nationally in dollars raised and first in the High Plains Division and the Big 12 Conference. In addition to fundraising, your Coaches vs. Cancer committee works with coaches and athletes to provide meaningful experiences to those fighting this awful disease, through hospital visits and special events hosted on the OSU campus.
