Cybercrime is increasing at an exponential rate impacting individuals and families across the nation. These crimes can be catastrophic and hard to recover from, if ever. At SynED, our goal is to bring cybersecurity awareness to the community and train the next generation of ethical cyber defenders to keep all of our families and communities safe.
The California Mayors Cyber Cup - #CMCC2020 - is a state-wide event to bring cybersecurity awareness to the community. Using a competition for middle and high schools students, we bring together individuals, business, education, and government to celebrate cyber competition and education, all the while bringing awareness about how to keep yourself safe in a cyber world.
The California Mayors Cyber Cup competition doesn’t just teach kids cyber skills, it creates a community, of its own. Kids build friendships with their teammates, expand their future career horizons through connections with business and community leaders, and represent their city for the ultimate prize of bringing home a trophy to present to their mayor!
In 2019, 1,300 students from 270 teams representing 150 cities across California. Twenty two percent of all competitors were girls! At SynED we are committed to bridging the gender divide in cyber security.
• 10 Regions
• 500-700 teams statewide
• 2500 – 3500 students participating
• Competition Event Date 10/2020
