Barriers to employment include anything that prevents an individual from getting or keeping a job. Common barriers include having a criminal record, a physical disability, and/or lacking adequate digital skills. Individuals with barriers to employment face high unemployment rates. For example, the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities is at an all-time high of 12.6%.
Currently, there are approximatley 8.2 million vacant jobs with many hardworking individuals wanting jobs but lacking the resources they need to secure them.
