The vision of Clean Lakes Alliance reads “we see a future where the lakes are the center of the community.” Right now, under shelter at home orders, we are working hard to make sure there is still a “center of the community” even as the community is scattered and staying home. We need your help!
Clean Lakes Alliance has been dramatically affected by the hardship of COVID-19 and the shelter at home orders. Due to lack of financial support and new working arrangements, the organization was forced to make some hard decisions regarding staff and programmatic work.
We made the hard decision to cancel our May 13th Community Breakfast and Yahara Lakes 101 Science Cafes, our monthly community outreach program for an audience of roughly 100 attendees, has been postponed until shelter at home is rescinded. Additionally, many of our future fundraisers including the Loop the Lake community bike ride are on an indefinite hold as well.
Over the next six months, our greatest challenge will be funding outreach materials and pushing public projects forward. Clean Lakes Alliance relays heavily on monthly monetary donations from Friends of Clean Lakes (individual) and Lake Partners (business). These donations allow staff to plan projects, facilitate educational programs, and engage in community outreach. In the midst of this crisis, the organization has seen a dramatic reduction in donations.
With your support, Clean Lakes Alliance can keep working to the best of its ability on putting the lakes at the center of the community. When shelter at home is rescinded, we want to make sure our lakes are ready for a community that will be eager to get outside, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the city they call home. Thank you for helping Clean Lakes Alliance continue its vision in a community that values and cherishes its lakes.
