As a breast cancer Thriver this is a cause that's very important to me. I was able to afford my care and recovery but others aren't as fortunate. Thus I want to take this opportunity to pay it forward. I will be running in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth, MN to support this great organization. The race happens to occur 2 years+1 day from the date of my initial diagnosis.
Circle of Hope is a 501 (c) 3 non profit formed in 2010. It is volunteer driven and run by a Coordinator and Board of Directors.
1 out of 8 women go on to get breast cancer. Men get breast cancer as well! (It is often genetic in men). The organization serves northern MN and northern WI based on funds in accounts. It covers other areas based on funds raised. Many patients have to quit work to receive life saving treatments. Patients have daily living expenses that need to be met. Some have insurance issues and unpaid co-pays. Circle of Hope also funds Stage IV breast cancer research locally through the University of Minnesota Duluth Medical School.
