Attie's first 13 years were filled with pain from pancreatic disease. She endured and conquered a TPIAT in December 2017. In December 2018, she was given amazingly, miraculous "normal" numbers on all tests run. Attie is a healthy, TPIAT patient with fully functioning islet cells. The relief of living disease free and celebration was short lived. Attie's 16 year old sister, Gracie, was diagnosed with pancreatitis in April 2019.
My name is Jenny Jamison. I am the mom of these two amazing, strong girls. I do not have any disease. I am blessed with a healthy body and I can run. I've run two marathons in the past to show my children they have a strong mom and that they too can do hard things when they are older. Little did I know the hard things they would face at such an early age.
My sister is a rockstar! Her name is Brooke. This will be her 10th marathon. Seriously...amazing! She is a wife, the mom of two young boys, and full time therapist to me. She trains professional and non-professional athletes!!! She could outrun me by miles, but she stays with me and we do this hard thing together. Because we can. Because there are those who can't...and we do it for them.
We are running in honor of Attie and Gracie. We are from Oklahoma...she lives in Louisiana now...but we run for CincinnAttieStrong because Cinicinnati Children's is where we learned about the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF). Because of the research funded by NPF, my children may see the day where there is a cure for pancreatic diseases. But it hasn't happened yet...and that is also why we run. We run to raise more funding for more research for a future where my girls won't hurt any more.
On Sunday, October 27, 2019, the National Pancreas Foundation Team will be running through the streets of Washington, DC to raise money for cutting-edge research for those suffering from pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, advocating for new and better therapies, and providing support and education for patients, caregivers, and health care professionals.
The NPF is the only foundation dedicated to patients who are suffering from all forms of pancreas disease – pediatric pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
Thank you for supporting our mission and helping provide hope for those with pancreas disease.
