Hello friends and family,
Many of you have been wondering what Cia Siab, Inc. has been doing for the past two years. We are excited to share with you our journey and the reason for its creation. Cia Siab, Inc. was founded in September 2016 in response to a sudden void of critical cultural and linguistic services to Hmoob folx when the Board of Directors of the Hmoob Cultural and Community Agency voted to return all domestic abuse and sexual assault grant funds to the State. As long-standing gender justice advocates, we knew how devastating this would be for Hmong womxn, children, and elders, as the past 12 years have taught us that these populations are among the most marginalized and have little to no access to culturally-appropriate services.
For the past year, through the hard work of our staff and Board of Directors, we have secured funding through the State, private foundations and other non-profits, bringing our budget from $0 to $250,000. Through this success, Cia Siab, Inc. restored direct services to domestic abuse and sexual assault victims. However, with our current budget and without a donor base, we are unable to expand our services due to space limitation and our funding being limited to direct services.
As Cia Siab, Inc. celebrates its second year anniversary, we ask for your donation in order to continue our grassroots work with the Hmoob community. Through your donation, we hope to expand our space as well as deliver services to our most marginalized community members.
We have a donor who would match dollar for dollar for anything we fundraise up to $10,000. Our goal for the fundraising is $30,000. Your donation, in any amount, is an investment in our youth and a commitment to social justice and our continued fight for a healthy, equitable and just society.
Our priority areas for this coming year are:
__To build a solid financial foundation for our agency;
__To invest in collaborative relationships with other agencies and organizations that are currently serving the Hmoob community; and __To expand our space and our services to Elders, Hmoob youth under the age of 12 and to the LGBTQ Hmoob community.
Thank you again for your support!
