This page is hosted by volunteers who are on the Board of Directors at Bill Wilson Center. Among the many programs BWC runs are fifteen homes housing young people who would otherwise be homeless. There are anywhere from 5-10 young people in each home, ages 18-24. They are supervised and they receive counseling, independent living skills training, parenting classes and employment services. The goal is that they become self-sufficient adults with strong connections to the community (that's you!)
Last year, staff from the homes asked if we could get Christmas trees for each of the homes. They explained that nearly all of the residents grew up without holiday traditions. Having a tree and decorating it together gives them the opportunity to feel what it is like to start their own traditions. We came up a little short last year so not all of the homes had trees. We hope you will help us fix that this year!
We would like to get a (live) tree, a tree stand, lights, and some ornaments for each of the fifteen homes. A crew of us plan to make the deliveries on December 7 and 8. Between now and then we are raising the funds to make it happen! If we go over the goal or if the supplies are not as expensive as we are budgeting, any remainder will go to Bill Wilson Center's Adopt a Family holiday gift program.
