At Girls on the Run-Chicago, we inspire girls 8-14 to activate their limitless potential.
This spring, more than 8,000 Chicago girls will participate in Girls on the Run's experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. And at the end of the season, each girl will celebrate how far she's come at a noncompetitive 5k.
She'll do it alongside her "running buddy," a family member or mentor who cheers her on and makes sure she crosses the finish line. While the girls' registration cost is included in their program fees, running buddies must pay a subsidized fee of $35 towards race costs.
More than 50% of girls in our programs come from low-income communities and 85% receive at least a partial scholarship to participate. Race registration can be a difficult cost for some families to cover.
As a member of Girls on the Run-Chicago's Associate Board, I want to be sure every girl has a running buddy in her corner and so I'm asking you to please consider making a gift today in honor of someone who's shown up for you. Your contribution of $35 or more will pay it forward and make a major milestone – crossing the finish line – that much easier for a Chicago girl.
