In a recent attempt to get back into my track-shape days, I decided to sign up for a half-marathon in 31 days - a tall order, I know. I've run one before, and while the satisfaction of completing any run is sufficient, I wanted to do something different this time.
My step-father passed away on December 28th, 2015 - a little more than 3 years ago - due to early onset Alzheimers. He was living with it since early 2010 with my mother and me and my sibilings acting as caretakers. In light of this, I wanted to dedicate any and all donations to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research (consistently rated on the top independent charities in America), to help end Alzheimers, everyone suffering with it first hand, and all family and friends effected by the pain their loved ones endure when afflicted with this disease.
My race is on March 9th, 2019, called the St. Pats Half Marathon in Rockaway Beach, NY (in Queens, not too far!), and I would love to have any and all support from those who can make it. Every dollar counts and it all means the world. Hope to see you guys on March 9th!
You can find links to the race website (in case you want to race me ;) ) as well as the site for the Fisher Center.
