A Little Observation and History by Gene Anderson
At a world missions conference two years ago, I was astounded at the demand for a certain category of sessions that was being offered as part of the conference agenda. I believe there were several thousand at the event. Francis Chan was one of the speakers as well as many other mature men and women of God.
However, of all the sessions offered, the one that took place in the largest classroom (of a mega church), filled with both young and old believers standing inside and outside the doors with no more seats available, was the session dealing with Christians battling depression. I will never forget the lack of joy showing on all those faces. To look across that room filled with so many people who loved Jesus, yet still in the pains of depression and even suicide hit me hard. Putting people on medications, in my opinion, was not working for the people that I personally knew with depression.
After 30 plus years in Christian ministry myself and over 50 years a believer, there is only one person that I recommend to anyone dealing with depression (Both for Christians as well as non-Christians) is Pastor Patrick Buckley of Ireland, now living in Portland Oregon, USA. He continually helps hurting people through the word of God and prayer.
Christian help for Depression’s services are completely free. Pastor Pat implements and delivers his teaching through one-on-one sessions and video. Christians tormented by depression, anxiety, panic attacks, fear, suicidal thoughts, trauma, eating disorders, anger/rage and even cutting, receive freedom through the ministry of CHFD who have never charged for their services unto this day.
Sponsorship Needed
Pastor Pat’s videos are viewed by hundreds of hurting people. He receives between 70-100 emails per month asking for help and teachings from the ministry. He has over 2400 students receiving video teaching via his completely free services offered on the well-respected educational online platform, Udemy.
His ministry is non-denominational and is 100% focused on Jesus. He has only a few volunteers, no paid staff, and has come to a place where the demand for this ministry must obtain financial help to continue beyond Pastor Pat himself completing funding the ministry at his own expense to keep the ministry available to all, rich or poor at no charge.
Ministry Goal
With just a handful of financial supporters and a small financial budget raised through this GoFundMe, Christian Help For Depression can grow and continue to serve hurting people absolutely free and to create the online tools necessary to meet the demand of masses of young and old people searching for help from all around the world.
