Each year, the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi and local communities team up in the fight against diabetes. Individuals, families, corporate teams and others from around the state walk together in honor or memory of a loved one with diabetes, to celebrate the lives of those currently living with diabetes, and to raise awareness against Mississippi's number one health problem! 373,000 Mississippians have diabetes and one third of those are not diagnosed. Mississippi leads the nation in the prevalence of diabetes. Mississippi is also the heaviest state with 69% of our population overweight. Diabetes costs the US almost $322 billion a year! People with diabetes spend between $7,900 to $30,000 per year to manage this disease. Your sponsorship supports children's services, community services, education, and research.
