Dear Friends and Family (and hopefully some kind strangers of the internet),
I am excited to share that I will returning to Nicaragua with Corner of Love this March to volunteer one another Medical Brigade. Corner of Love is a Seattle-area based non-profit dedicated to providing healthcare and clean water to villagers who live in the Northern part of the country, about three hours from the capital city of Managua. They've brought hundreds of volunteers to from all over the world to work in their clinics and participate in other volunteer activities. Corner of Love is also a Christian organization that places a great emphasis on shining God's light in everything they do.
The beauty of it too, is that you don't have to be Christian to join them on these missions. Anyone can lend a helping hand and this trip is no exception. I myself will be joining a group of medical students from Japan and their trip leader whom I met on my first trip to Nicaragua.
I was first introduced to Corner of Love in 2009, my freshman year of high school. I was invited to serve by my grandpa, who knew the Amadors through church and saw an incredible opportunity to carry out god's work. That first mission trip changed my life- but more importantly it changed hundreds of others through our opportunity to serve the people of Nicaragua- particularly those in the villages surrounding San Ramon, a region often referred to as 'forgotten mountains'. I was fortunate enough to be able to serve each year in high school and to watch Corner of Love's impact grow with the organization and their vision. Even better, was having the chance on occasion to see a patient from a previous year remember you and to see how they have grown and become healthier.
In the last year or so, I've been able to get involved with Corner of Love once more, after a sort of hiatus while I was in college. I am so thrilled to be able to continue working with them and am truly amazed at the impact they have been able to make over the years. Corner of Love does so much on each trip, and in between them as well.
The two main purposes on this trip are:
1- Bring the loving care of doctors, nurses, and hopefully a dental team to meet the healthcare needs of more than one thousand impoverished Nicaraguans.
2- Provide badly needed medicine, like anti-parasite treatments, antibiotics, and vitamins to all the patients who come to our clinics.
I have been planning and looking forward to this trip since I returned from my last one in March of 2017 but I'll also need your help. My goal is to raise $1250 by February 15th, which covers my personal cost to go on this mission- including room & board as well as the cost of one medpack. If I'm able to raise anything extra, it will be put towards Corner of Love's other projects such as their leadership school, water projects, the San Ramon clinic, and many more. I will also be paying for my plane ticket separately.
For more details, I encourage you to visit corneroflove.org. I realize this can be expensive time of year for everyone but your donation will have an amazing impact. DONATIONS TO CORNER OF LOVE ARE ALSO TAX DEDUCTIBLE, so if you're looking for an organization to support, this one is a great choice.
Will you help me achieve this goal and give even more to Corner of Love?
Thank you, Chinyere
