I am excited to again be running Boston in 2020. This will be my 9th team with the Museum of Science (MoS) and, as always, I am looking forward to do all that I can to support its Traveling Programs!!
Starting in 1994 with single inflatable Starlab planetarium and 3 part-time employees, today Traveling Programs is the largest museum outreach program in New England with over 27 different programs and 10 full-time employees bringing interactive science education on the road and serving more than 100,000 students annually. Traveling Programs’ mission is to teach and ignite curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), while serving as an ambassador to extend the Museum’s mission to communities throughout New England to help all students envision themselves as scientists.
Since I first participated in the Museum’s inaugural Boston Marathon Team in 2009, because of your generosity, the impact of the Team’s fundraising has allowed Traveling Programs to (a) purchase 4 new vans, (b) travel over 600,000 miles to about 9000 different communities, (c) bringing close to 20,000 different programs to 900,000 students and (d) providing close to $200,000 in scholarships. With such great work currently carried out Traveling Programs, with your continued support, I am confident that Traveling Programs will be able to continue its wonderful outreach into 2020.
Similar to 2017, I will be doing double duty this training season, as I try to get myself ready for the Antarctica Marathon on March 28, 2020 and then Boston on April 20, 2020. With your support, I hope to be ready and reach my goal of raising $7,500 for Traveling Programs.
My success, as you know, will rely on your generosity. Your gift will allow Traveling Programs to continue its outreach while enhancing scholarship opportunities to underserved audiences, reinvigorate its equipment and fleet of vehicles, and develop new programs to enhance visitor experience.
I hope that you will again consider joining me in supporting this great cause with a donation and help me reach my fundraising goal.
