I DID IT!!!
Thank you to all that supported me along the way. It is greatly appreciated.
It’s official…I’m running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 13, 2019! That’s right- 26.2 miles!
As most of you know I have been running for the majority of my life. Competitively growing up through grade school and high school. Post college to present I’ve ran numerous 5Ks and 8Ks, as well as, 3 half marathons (13.1 miles) and have completed 2 full marathons. This will be my 3rd marathon and 2nd time running the Chicago Marathon!
So why this year? This time I’m running for something bigger then myself. I was asked to be a part of a Charity Team. I’m running in support of Chicago Commons. Founded in 1894, Chicago Commons was one of Chicago’s original settlement houses serving immigrants near Chicago’s northwest side. Their mission is to partner with individuals, families, and communities to overcome poverty, discrimination, and isolation. To fulfill that mission, Commons provides high-quality early childhood education, family-centered adult education, and senior services to more than 3,000 individuals annually.
This year Chicago Commons is celebrating its 125th anniversary of serving the city of Chicago. Since its founding, Chicago Commons has focused on under-resourced neighborhoods and providing the tools for communities to strengthen skills, develop self-sufficiency, and improve overall wellness. When you support Chicago Commons you will enable parents to maintain jobs; ensure that hundreds of children are prepared to excel in elementary school; and guarantee that over a thousand seniors are receiving the care they need.
I have committed to not only run the Chicago Marathon, but also to raise $1,250 for Chicago Commons. Will you help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation- perhaps a dollar per mile-$26.20 to Team Chicago Commons? You can donate to my fundraising page here or you can mail in your donation to Chicago Commons Association at 515 E 50th street Suite 200 Chicago, IL 60615. All checks can be made out to Team Chicago Commons- Please be sure to add "Erin Greiss- Marathon" to the memo line.
On behalf of the more than 3,000 children, families and seniors we will impact through your generosity, thank you for supporting Team Chicago Commons. Feel free to contact me at email@example.com or 847-209-6836 if you have any questions.
